The Strangest Guide to Finding Your Art Style is a 20-page digital art guide for mixed-media artists who want to develop a bold, colorful and layered visual language without forcing a fake signature style.

This guide follows the path that worked for me: from portrait drawing and careful observation to abstract layering, material experiments and the small choices that eventually became my Candy Decay style. It is my story and my method, not a universal formula.

Inside, you’ll learn how to read your old work, notice choices that keep returning, give each material a clear job, translate useful ideas from digital art into traditional media, study your own complaints and “no thanks” rules, and bring more of your personality and history into your work.

This guide is mainly for mixed-media artists, or artists who want to:

If you work only in one dry medium and want a very minimal style, some of the material-based exercises may not fit your practice directly. The larger questions about taste, repetition and personal meaning can still be useful.

This is not a promise that you will find your style in twenty pages. Style can take years. But if two or three ideas point you in the right direction, the guide has done its job.
