Bad Signal, Good Transition
Two sharks, one plate of nachos, and all the cheese dip in the world.
This piece began as a commission. A sister wanted a present for her younger brother, who had just graduated, who had just come out, and whose birthday was coming up. What she really wanted was for him to feel seen. So the painting is full of the two of them: the cinema nachos they have shared since they were kids, the split dye and the pink hair, the pixel hearts, the trans flag hanging in the window, a handwritten note on the table, and a sign glowing above it all that says welcome, we saved you a seat.
It is a painting about the kind of love that does not wait for a coming out to begin. The signal was always bad. The transition is good.
Printed in rich, vibrant colors on high-quality photo paper, this one is for anyone who has ever been someone's safe person, or needed one.
20% of every hand-signed print sold goes to Bundesverband Trans*, the German association working for the rights, healthcare access and self determination of trans and gender diverse people.
