After surviving a carotid artery dissection, themes like fragility, mortality, change, uncertainty and temporary happiness naturally found their way into my artwork.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCandy Decay became my way of holding those contradictions together: bright colors and difficult thoughts, sweetness and loss, joy and impermanence.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThat's also one reason why I love sending the complimentary cards without envelopes.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThey cross oceans, pass through sorting centers, travel in mail trucks and move through countless hands before arriving at their destination. Along the way, they may collect postmarks, softened corners, scratches, bends or other traces of their journey.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMost people would call those imperfections.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI call them part of the artwork.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe card continues its story after it leaves my studio.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSome cards may feature small variations, hand-altered details, intentional aging or unique markings.
